The Best Time to Meditate

The Best Time to Meditate

I’ll be honest with you, the best time (for me) to meditate is first thing in the morning, but I know this doesn’t work with everyone’s schedules.  Over the years it’s become my morning ritual to wake up and walk down stairs first thing to meditate.  Not only does it set the tone for my entire day, but Spiritual and Personal Development are amongst the two most important things that I do in my life and that’s why I make it a priority.

In today’s Feed Her Soul TV episode, check out what I’ve learned over the years regarding the best time to meditate.  You may be surprised!

And after you watch I want to hear from you in the comments section below!  Let me know:

When do you normally meditate?

The most important thing to remember about meditation is that there’s no right or wrong.  YOUR INTENTION to meditate is so powerful and taking initiative to do it is all that all that matters.  The Universe knows what you are intending and will respond accordingly.  Give yourself permission to be where you are in your practice, whether it’s your first day, first year, or even if you’ve been practicing for years.  It’s called a meditation practice for a reason, and that’s because  there is no ending, it’s something you practice ongoing.

These are some helpful tips that I’ve discovered on my meditation journey.

  • A good rule of thumb is that when your mind drifts, and it will, that you should immediately bring your attention back to your third eye center and then presume with your guided words, chants, visualization, focus, etc.
  • Don’t worry if you fall asleep while meditating.  It happens all the time.  When you find yourself consistently falling asleep with a specific meditation, maybe it’s time to look for another type of meditation that speaks to you.
  • One way to develop good meditation posture is to sit Indian style, half lotus, or full lotus with your back against a wall for support.
  • Sit on a pillow, a thick cushioned yoga mat if you need to.
  • You don’t have to sit in a “special” posture, you can meditate while sitting in a recliner or, while sitting in your car or even lying on the ground.
  • When getting started, sit somewhere comfortable to you and don’t worry about any special posture.
  • When your palms are face up you are in receiving mode.
  • If in a seated position, place both feet on the ground in front of you.  This is grounding and will help center you.
  • If chanting, go with the flow and if a tune comes to you, sing it within your chant. (I love doing this!)
  • Mudras (hand positions, e.g., index finger touching thumb) are good to learn, but when you are first getting started don’t worry about them unless you are deeply interested, then follow that feeling.  But for beginners, don’t stress about not knowing them.
  • Relax.  The information you need will come to you when the timing is right for you.  There should be no stress associated to your meditation practice.
  • Notice the subtle changes in your attitude, responses, conversations (or lack thereof) with others the day of and the couple of days following a good-deep meditation.  They will be lighter, healthier and happier.  But if you don’t notice anything right away, that’s okay.  You will start noticing more and have a deeper awareness as you start meditating more.
  • Explore different types and styles of meditation.  There are so many!  A wonderful free resource is to get started is to explore different guided meditations on YouTube.

Affirmations & Why Yours Aren’t Working!

Affirmations & Why Yours Aren’t Working!

Ro Ferrelli Pink #Affirmation

My love/hate relationship with affirmations just shifted into the love zone 100%!  I’ve recognized the importance of affirmations over the years, but I haven’t always seen the results I was expecting.

About a year ago I actually silenced affirmations from my life altogether, vowing that I was over them and ready to move on to more effective ways of attracting. But recently in some mindset work that I picked up from Stephanie Nicolich, business coach and online success mentor, a huge ginormous light bulb went off in my head.  The main reason why affirmations don’t work is because they are not personalized to your specific blocks.  There is a disconnect between the energy of the ‘words and you’ when the affirmations don’t connected deeply to what you are healing.

This whole time I’ve been using someone else’s affirmations, not my own, and that’s where the problem lies.  Sometimes I resonate with someone else’s affirmation and that’s fine and dandy, but more often it’s like I’m speaking empty words trying to make myself believe and feel something that’s just not there.  Not to mention, when it’s someone else’s words, you don’t own-up to them and therefore they are easily forgotten and left on the sidelines.

When you do the dirty work to get to the bottom of your energetic blocks you will have a keen awareness of exactly what your problem is and why you have that problem and how it has been blocking you all of these years.  At this specific point, it is vitally important to create your own unique and fresh affirmations that vibe with you, where you are at in your journey, and your next steps.  Then, once you adjust to your new beliefs, it’s time to create new affirmations to move you to the next level.  Inching your way towards new beliefs is what works!

An Example!

A generic money affirmation:  “Large sums of money are drawn to me no matter where I go, and no matter what I do.”

This affirmation is great, but it doesn’t vibe with where I am right now.  Through my personal development work, I discovered that I more frequently purchase sale items versus full valued items even in cases where the full valued item is what I really want.  When I traced back to my early childhood beliefs about why I do this, I discovered that this behavior resulted from a rough patch my mom and I went through and embedded thoughts of lack in my subconscious mind about money.  As an adult, this state of mind is actually untrue for me.  I have so many wonderful things in my life and this behavior rooted in a lack belief is not serving me.  It’s time to change this!

My personalized affirmation: “I have more than enough of what I need.  It is now time to purchase full valued items of the things that I really want and deserve to have.”

I downloaded an app to my phone called Positive Thinking that sends me a daily reminder of my personalized affirmation along with a picture for visualization.  This has been very helpful in keeping this affirmation active as I rebuild my beliefs.

A Divine Typo…

A Divine Typo…

Divine Typo Ro Ferrelli

I was recently working on my bio for a speaking engagement and in green-tea, fast typing mode I quickly typed: Feed Her Soul, a blog geared towards helping women connect with their inner truth.  Whoa, wait a sec!  Feed Her Soul?  My blog is called Feed Your Soul… but hold on now… I kinda like Feed Her Soul!  Where did that come from?!

There’s no escaping the magic of the Universe; it is always responding to our thoughts, beliefs, emotions, vibration.  Sometimes it sneaks right in when we are writing, other times it speaks to us through a random sign we pass by, or when we bump into a new friend that tells us just what we needed to know, guiding us on our path.  This is the Universe responding, speaking and filling in the blanks.  When we give consistent, conscious thought to a grand vision – the Universe will fill in the blanks with the details.  When we mindlessly wonder through our life without a grand vision the Universe is still responding but only reflecting back randomness.

I have a plan and a grand vision.  I’m not 100% clear on all of the details, but I know the general direction that I need to move in.  All that’s left is for me to stay out of my way and allow the Universe to fill in the blanks and bring everything together.

This typo was one of those Divine moments where the Universe snuck in a little missing detail to help fill in the blanks of my vision.  I dream to help women around the world become more spiritually connected and live more authentically.  What’s more suiting than a complimenting blog called:  Feed Her Soul?  Not too shabby, eh?

So my blog has officially been renamed to Feed Her Soul thanks to the Universe for sneaking in a Divine typo.

Now, I want to hear from you!  How does the Universe speak to you?  Is it usually through people,  a reoccurring sign?  I want to hear about it in the comments section below.

Be specific. There are hundreds of people who read this blog looking for inspiration and insight.  Your story may just be what someone else needs to have a breakthrough.

Thanks for reading, commenting and sharing!  You make writing this blog one of my favorite things to do.

With so much love,

VLOG: The Best Birthday Gift For Your Soul

I’m doing something a little different this year for my birthday.  I thought I’d embark on a new journey and self-care challenge after being guided to attend a Kundalini Meditation class, that I actually thought was a Kundalini Yoga class.  It’s amazing how Spirit guides us when we ask for something new.  Now, only a few short months later I am committing to a special challenge as a gift and opportunity to further develop my true self.

Now, I’d love to hear from you.  In the comments below, write down one idea that you plan to do differently for yourself on your next birthday, OR something really awesome that you did in the past.  You never know who will read your post and get inspired, so share your thoughts below.

Thank you so much for sharing this on your favorite Social Media platform and for spreading the love this video has to offer.

P.S. Know of a Soul-centered friend who has a birthday coming up? Let them know you care and share this post with them and encourage them to do something good for themselves that will feed their Soul.

3 of 5: A Tribute to Dr. Wayne Dyer – Change the Way You Look at Things, & The Things You Look at Will Change

Atom Ro Ferrelli

One of my favorite quotes by Dr. Wayne Dyer goes like this:  Change the way you look at things, and the things you look at will change.  Some might wonder what this actually means.. and well, simply stated it means exactly what it implies. Our thoughts are beyond powerful.  They literally have the power to alter physical reality, to heal, to make matters better or worse and to manifest on the smallest or largest of scales.  This is all brought to light by quantum physics which shows us that at the tiniest subatomic level, the actual act of observing a particle changes the particle.  The way we observe these infinitely small building blocks of life is a determining factor in what they ultimately become.

Einstein once said, “The most fundamental decision that you have to make in your life is this: do you live in a friendly or a hostile Universe?”  Do you live in a Universe filled with hatred, hostility, people that are mean and angry?  Is this what you see?  Because if this is what you believe and this is what you see, this is what you will create for your life.

I think we know this on a deeper level – because it’s in our core.  It’s why we choose to find the good in things, why we make an effort to move beyond a bad experience and get on with our lives, and why we hold sayings like “everything happens for a reason” near and dear.  Deep down we know that if we change the way we look at things it makes for a better experience.

Now take this saying on conscious level and use it intently.  Change the way you look at your body, at your life, at your weaknesses, at your friendships, the world.

Change the way you look at things, and the things you look at will change.
